"Co-operation in the 21st Century "

The key word for the 21st century is "community." Whether the issue is globalization, the declining birth rates and aging population, reorganization of institutions of higher education or other themes.
- "The market economy" and "the social economy" ( non-profit co-operation enterprise).
Efforts by students who understand the virtues of co-operation to express interest not only in university co-operatives and community co-operatives, but also in the potential of co-operative activities in the community and a wide range of non-profit/co-operation organizations, will serve to promote "Co-operation in the 21st Century."
The University Co-operative offers legitimate participation as initial members at the youngest age of any co-operative. Under the terms of the organization, for the first time in their lives students receive the opportunity to actively learn about the nature and the merits of co-operatives.

(1)	As a key member of the Co-operative, the University Co-operative acts as the gateway for participation by its membership (students) in the overall Co-operative movement (introductions, contacts, etc.).
(2)	Recognition of the existence and potential of various co-operative activities on university campuses which reach beyond the framework of the University Co-operative, and support for those undertakings.
(3)	The presence of national centers and regional centers to support these activities.

All types of co-ops (citizen co-ops, medical co-ops, agricultural co-ops, credit co-ops, etc.)
New types of co-ops (workers co-ops, multi-stakeholders co-ops, etc.).
--> Counterproposals to "entrepreneur," "privatization," etc. also qualify as options for co-operatives.

CIEC acknowledges itself as a "scientific co-operation/collaboration organization" (other than capital investment, operation is according to Co-op methods).
There is also the potential for university faculty members to form "Teachers Co-ops," and expand into the community (support for such activities).
If new "Co-op" independence and University Co-operative (support) relations can be designed, rich co-operation will be generated.
